(Sacramento, CA. January 10, 2018)

The California Senior Legislature (CSL) announced its Donate to Code 438 initiative this week, whereby Californians can support the work of the CSL this tax season via Code 438, the California Senior Citizen Advocacy Voluntary Contribution Tax Fund, on the California Resident Income Tax Return Form 540.

The California Senior Legislature has been working to improve the lives of California’s six million seniors since 1981. This nonpartisan organization has sponsored over 200 new laws helping seniors with financial abuse, health care, the Silver Alert program, and more.

CSL members will advocate diligently during the 2018 legislative session to have state lawmakers carry and support the CSL’s top State Legislative proposals which include Prescription Drug Labeling, Affordable Living Options for Seniors, Adult Day Care Resources for Alzheimer’s Patients, Long Term Care System Improvement, and more.

CSL is an entirely volunteer organization and is funded primarily by donations. Voluntary tax contributions maintain operations and support critical staff.

“Without these contributions, our state’s vulnerable elderly population could lose their strongest advocate,” said John Pointer, CSL’s Joint Rules Committee Chairman.
