FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Sacramento, California) The California Senior Legislature (CSL) is comprised of dedicated community volunteers representing all 58 counties in the state. Their primary mission is to gather ideas for model legislation for consideration at the State and Federal levels and advocate for laws that improve the quality of life for aging Californians. The CSL is primarily funded through a voluntary check off on the California State Income Tax Return – “CA Fund for Senior Citizens” (CODE 402 of the State Income Tax Form).

The CSL does not receive any funds from the State General Fund. This year the contributions to the CA Fund for Senior Citizens are down. The State of California requires that the California Senior Legislature earn at least $250,000 on the State Income Tax Check-Off Form to remain on the Tax Check-Off Form.

We urgently need citizens that have not yet filed their tax returns to consider donating to the CA Fund for Senior Citizens (Code 402) on their California State Income Tax Return. Even the smallest of donations will help keep the 33 year history and work of the CSL going on behalf of aging Californians.

The California Senior Legislature success includes over 180 proposals chaptered into State Legislation addressing priority senior concerns. This legislation has covered issues such as elder and dependent adult abuse, financial abuse, Veteran’s issues and the Silver Alert program. Additional information about CSL legislative proposals can be found at www.4csl.org.

Please support the CSL by checking-off Code 402 on your State Income Tax Return and making a tax deductible donation.
